Great Blue Sea Wines is the culmination of a dream of 3 French wine enthusiasts wishing to share the wonderful wines that the Mediterranean regions can deliver every year.
The Mediterranean Sea, or as we call it here in France, the Great Blue Sea, represents on its own most of the World Wine History. The History and culture of wine began on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, several millennia ago. The adaptation of the plant, the human experience of its culture, and the acquisition of ancestral know-how, have allowed these Mediterranean regions to give life to unique, authentic wines, faithfully attached to their terroirs.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At GBS WINES, we are absolutely convinced that the main quality of a wine lies in its drinkability and the immediate pleasure it gives to the taster. From a technical point of view, drinkability is, in our opinion, driven mainly by the freshness, the purity of the fruit, and the expression of the terroir through a precise mineral frame. Thus, the estates we have selected in our portfolio are mainly from fresh altitude terroirs, bathed all year round in a Mediterranean solar climate, in order to preserve all the greed and generosity that characterizes the region. We are committed and are sure that each of the bottles from our selection will transmit this immediate pleasure to you.

Florian Glemot, DWSET

Florian grew up in the middle of the vineyards in Roussillon, in the south of France. Passionate about aviation from an early age, he is now a long-haul airline pilot at Air France. Nevertheless, he has always kept a growing interest in the world of wine by passing the WSET Diploma, then the French Diploma in Viculture and Oenology. He has since written several articles for the specialized press, produced his own artisanal cuvées in partnership with Languedoc winemakers, and now passionately develops the activity of his wine brand FRENCH CONNECTION, and of course GBS WINES by taking advantage of his regular trips to California.

Matthieu Dupont

Matthieu grew up on the limestone banks of the Loire Valley, covered in storied vineyards and filled with the French history of the châteaux de la Loire. His focus from a young age on aviation took him across the world and he has called California his home for the past 15 years, honing his entrepreneurial skills in the San Francisco Bay Area startup environment. From France to California, two pillars of wine production, it was only natural that Matt would continue his quest to find and taste great wines. He is excited to bring true discoveries from his home shores to his adopted home with the unique portfolio of Great Blue Sea Wines.

Nathan Menou, DWSET

Nathan has evolved as the chef sommelier of the N°5 Wine bar in Toulouse, elected 4 times the best wine bar in Europe and 3 times the best wine bar in the world. He also won the double prize for the best French wine list and the best selection by the glass. His work as a sommelier is regularly praised by The World of Fine Wines and The Wine Spectator. Nathan is a professional taster for many wine journals, but also a jury for several international competitions (Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, Grenaches du Monde, Frankfurt Trophy,...) . His love for wine lead him to obtain the WSET Diploma and the French Diploma in viticulture and oenology.
