Appellation: PDO CROZES HERMITAGE
Grape Varieties: 100% Syrah
Terroir: steep slopes with granite-rich soils, interspersed with loess and clay. These conditions are ideal for producing Syrah wines with finesse and minerality. Laurent employs sustainable practices such as manual harvesting and minimal intervention in the cellar to preserve the expression of the terroir. Since 2008, the estate has been practicing organic viticulture. Biodynamic methods, including specific preparations and composting, have been integrated to enhance vine health and soil vitality.
Yield: 35 hl / ha
Alcohol: 12.5%
Winemaking: Temperature-controlled concrete tanks, maceration over 15 to 25 days. This process utilizes indigenous yeasts, and daily manual punch-downs are performed to enhance color extraction and tannin development.
Aging: The wine is primarily aged in stainless steel or concrete vats to maintain freshness and varietal character. A portion of the wine is also aged in neutral oak barrels (2 to 4 years old) for approximately one year, adding subtle complexity without imparting dominant oak flavors. Red wines are vinified without added sulfites, relying on careful monitoring and natural stability.
Notes: On the nose, this wine shows vibrant aromas of blackberries, violets, cracked pepper, and hints of smoked herbs. The palate is fresh and silky, with juicy black fruit, refined tannins, and a touch of olive and spice, underpinned by the granite and clay limestone terroir expression. Medium bodied with bright acidity and a mineral-driven finish, this wonderful wine is both accessible in youth, and capable of mid-term aging.
