LAURENT HABRARD - NORTH RHÔNE
Laurent Habrard is a fifth-generation winemaker based in Gervans, in the northern Rhône Valley. Since taking over the family estate in 1998, he has expanded it to 16.6 hectares across the Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, and Hermitage appellations.
In 2008, Laurent transitioned the vineyard to organic farming, achieving certification in 2011, and has since incorporated biodynamic practices. His commitment to sustainability includes the use of solar energy, rainwater harvesting, and agroforestry initiatives.
Laurent emphasizes minimal intervention in the cellar, producing red wines without added sulfites when possible, to showcase the pure expression of Syrah. His wines are known for their finesse, balance, and reflection of their unique terroirs.
Beyond winemaking, Laurent fosters a collaborative environment, involving his team in decision-making processes and even naming special cuvées after them. His holistic approach to viticulture and community engagement makes him a respected figure in the Rhone Valley wine scene.
