XAVIER BRAUJOU - LANGUEDOC

Xavier Braujou is a self-taught winemaker who established Domaine La Terrasse d’Elise in 1998 near Aniane, Languedoc.

Initially balancing viticulture with his work as a woodcutter until 2008, he gradually expanded his estate to approximately 12–15 hectares.

Rejecting the constraints of AOC classifications, he produces wines under the IGP Pays de l’Hérault, allowing for greater creative freedom.

Braujou is renowned for his mono-varietal cuvées, particularly those highlighting Cinsault, Carignan, and Mourvèdre, which are typically considered blending grapes.

His viticultural practices are rooted in organic and biodynamic principles, emphasizing low yields around 20 hl/ha to ensure concentration and quality.

In the cellar, he adopts a minimalist approach: fermentations occur with indigenous yeasts, there’s minimal extraction, and aging is conducted in used barrels or tanks for 12 to 24 months.

His wines are celebrated for their finesse, purity, and expressive reflection of the Languedoc terroir.
